Statew leaders are expected to kick inabouf $9 million, contingent on federal funding. The 450,000 squaree foot facility will produce both its Sonata batteriezs for portable electronic devices as well as advance its push into the electri cvehicle market. Lampe-Onnerud is expected to providre the public its first lookat Boston-Power‚ds Swing battery for plug-in and electric vehicles, from smalo cars to sport utility The two batteries can be made on the same productiob line.
The company will be able to quickly translater developments in its products to finished producta as well as feed production problems back tothe R&f team, which was the driving factor behind its decisiobn to locate in Auburn. As manufacturing presence has dwindled overthe decades, the cleah technology industry is one of a handful of sector with the potential to create meaningfull production jobs.
