" The federal stimulus act set aside nearly $2 billionh for advance battery manufacturing facilities and Lampe-Onnerud said her companyg has applied for a $100 million gran for the Auburn facilities. Statew leaders are expected to kick inabouf $9 million, contingent on federal funding. The 450,000 squaree foot facility will produce both its Sonata batteriezs for portable electronic devices as well as advance its push into the electri cvehicle market. Lampe-Onnerud is expected to providre the public its first lookat Boston-Power‚ds Swing battery for plug-in and electric vehicles, from smalo cars to sport utility The two batteries can be made on the same productiob line.
